Regan Bollweg

Homegrown. Hardworking. Conservative.

Regan Bollweg is a fifth-generation farmer from Harrold, graduating from South Dakota State University in May 2026 with a Bachelor's in Agricultural Business and a minor in Political Science. He played Division I football and competed as a heavyweight wrestler for the Jackrabbits, served as a student senator at SDSU, and interned for U.S. Senator Mike Rounds. After graduation, he returns home to help manage his family's 4,000-acre farming and pheasant-hunting operation in rural Hughes County.

Our Rationale

Why they’re
Sensible

Bollweg is a 22-year-old fifth-generation farmer from Harrold, returning home from SDSU to a 4,000-acre family operation while running for the open seat District 24 has waited a generation to fill. His "Homegrown. Hardworking. Conservative." platform pairs unflashy commitments — competitive teacher pay, fair compensation for state employees, open and accountable government — with a clear stake in agriculture and a strong defense of landowner rights. At a District 24 candidate forum, he singled out the balance between property rights and economic development as the biggest issue facing the next legislature, and he's framed the race generationally: that the people who will inherit central South Dakota deserve a seat at the table now. The pitch is grounded, specific, and rooted in the place he intends to come back to.

In Their Own Words

Key positions

On serving rural District 24

I want to bring a strong voice for rural communities, agriculture, and the families and businesses of central South Dakota to the State Capitol.

On agriculture as economic foundation

Farmers and ranchers are the backbone of our economy and the foundation of our rural communities.

On private property rights

Landowners should have the final say over how their land is managed.

On the next generation of leadership

I'm running because I believe in the future of our communities and our state. South Dakota succeeds when we support our farmers and ranchers, invest in strong schools, and ensure our teachers and state employees are fairly compensated.

On open, accountable government

South Dakotans deserve open, transparent government that is accountable to the people.

On listening as the start of leadership

Strong leadership doesn't start with talking. It starts with listening.
