Jerry Jongeling
Jerry Jongeling is a Lincoln County native who lives in rural Tea, South Dakota with his wife Alecia and their two children. He holds an associate's degree in electrical construction from Mitchell Technical Institute and spent fourteen years in commercial electrical contracting before joining the City of Sioux Falls in 2014, where he serves as Light, Power and Traffic Superintendent overseeing a 23,000-light grid and a critical underground power circuit. His public-service roots run through the Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Commission (appointed 2019), the Heartland Energy Board of Directors (appointed 2024), and the South Dakota Municipal Electric Association board.
Why they’re
Sensible
Jerry Jongeling brings something rare to Pierre: twenty years of hands-on infrastructure management that saved Sioux Falls taxpayers $200,000 a year on streetlighting while keeping utility rates stable through 2027. He serves on the Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Commission and the Heartland Energy Board, giving him a genuine understanding of the land-use and energy tradeoffs that shape life in fast-growing southwest Sioux Falls and Lincoln County. His campaign priorities — resisting higher property taxes, fiscal restraint, and protecting personal liberties — flow directly from a career spent delivering public services efficiently and without drama.
