Jen Bleyenberg
Jen Bleyenberg has served on the Minnehaha County Commission since January 2023 and currently serves as its vice chair. Originally from West Michigan, she moved to Minnehaha County in 2008 and previously served as treasurer of Wall Lake Township. She works on the financial-aid team at the University of Sioux Falls and sits on county boards spanning juvenile justice, behavioral health, libraries, and accessible housing.
Why they’re
Sensible
Bleyenberg is the only sitting Minnehaha County commissioner seeking re-election, and she's earned another term. As vice chair she has paired careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars with deep committee work on the issues a growing county actually has to solve — juvenile justice, behavioral health, and the jail and safety-and-justice system. Her pitch is refreshingly modest: "steady and thoughtful leadership matters" as the county grows. She frames county government around three things voters can hold her to — keeping the community safe, managing money carefully, and staying accountable and transparent. That's the job, and she does it without drama.
