Christine Erickson
Christine Erickson is a Sioux Falls business and civic leader running for mayor. Born in Rapid City to a working-class family, she earned a business degree from the University of Sioux Falls, was named "Revenue Agent of the Year" at the SD Department of Revenue, served in the South Dakota House of Representatives (District 11), and spent eight years as an at-large Sioux Falls City Councilor (2014–2022). Since 2021 she has been president of both the South Dakota Auto Dealers Association and the South Dakota Trucking Association. She and her three sons live in Sioux Falls.
Why they’re
Sensible
Erickson is the most tested hand in the Sioux Falls mayor's race — a former state legislator and eight-year city councilor who now runs two statewide trade associations. Her platform is unflashy and operational: a safe city, responsible growth that keeps neighborhoods livable, infrastructure that keeps up with the fastest-growing metro in the Dakotas, and an explicit promise to cut red tape for the people trying to build and hire here. She campaigns on collaboration over combat — "good leadership means listening… and delivering results, not just rhetoric" — which is exactly the temperament a nonpartisan city office rewards. She would also be the first woman to serve as mayor of Sioux Falls.
Key positions
“A safe city is a strong city — and we must stay ahead of rising challenges around crime, mental health, and emergency response.”
“Balanced, strategic development that keeps our city livable for families.”
“Good leadership means listening. It means working with all sides to find real, workable solutions that advance our community, and it means delivering results — not just rhetoric.”
